How do I find the client code (BT's CIF)?
The CIF (Client Identification Code) is a unique code associated with each bank client. At Banca Transilvania, this code is found directly in the structure of the current account's IBAN.
A Romanian IBAN has 24 characters, structured as follows:
- EN – country code
- 2 control digits
- 4 characters – bank code
- 16 characters – account number
How to extract the CIF from the IBAN?
There are two situations, depending on how the IBAN ends:
✅ If the IBAN ends with the letters "XX":
- The VAT number is formed from the digit 0 followed by last 6 characters from IBAN, immediately before „XX”, read from left to right.
- Example: IBAN:
RO32BTRL56201931N98886XX→ Partita IVA:0N98886
✅ If the IBAN ends with digits:
- The VAT number consists of the 9th digitcounted from right to left (starting with the end of the IBAN), followed by next 6 characters, read from left to right.
- Example: IBAN:
RO10BTRLRONCRT0987654271→ Partita IVA:9876542
