What is the client code (BT's CIF)?

Client code or CIF is the unique identification number of a client at a commercial bank. Basically, each client has such a 7-character code obtained from the current account IBAN.

If you do not know your current account IBAN, you can find it qui details about the ways through which you can find out.

Let's take two hypothetical examples and see how you can extract your client code (BT's CIF) from the IBAN.

⠀If Your IBAN ends with the letters "XX" , we will take as an example the IBAN: RO32BTRL56201931N98886XX.

In this case, the client code (BT CIF) consists of the digit 0, to which the last 6 characters before the letters "XX" read from left to right are added (in our case these are N98886). Thus, the client code (BT CIF) for the example IBAN is: 0N98886.

⠀If Your IBAN does not end with the letters "XX" , which ends in digits, we consider as an example the IBAN: RO10BTRLRONCRT0987654271.

In this case, the client code (the BT VAT number) consists of the digit 9 (this being different depending on your IBAN since the ninth digit is taken into account, counted from right to left starting from the end of the IBAN). According to the example, after counting, the digit is 9. To this are added the next 6 digits, read from left to right, after the previously obtained digit, in our case these are 876542.

Therefore, in the case of the IBAN taken as an example, the client code (the BT CIF) is: 9876542.

We hope we managed to clarify things for you! 😅
