What does "blocked amount on card" mean?
Amount blocked on carta is a reserved amount, which is due to be paid from your account for various operations. Blocked amounts may come from multiple sources:
➤⠀different outstanding amounts or garnishments;
➤⠀installment payments made with credit card, where the amount decreases monthly, as the installments are paid off;
➤⠀card transactions made at terminals of other banks, whether it is an ATM transaction, a payment at the merchant's POS, or on the Internet.
Blocked amounts from card transactions are the amounts reserved when you make a transaction at another bank's terminal, whether it is an ATM transaction, a payment at the merchant's POS, or on the Internet. 🌐
The blocking of the amount represents the guarantee that the respective bank will receive the money you withdrew, respectively that a merchant will receive the money for the goods / services provided.
The settlement term for transactions made at other banks' terminals is a maximum of 30 days. That is, within this interval, the transaction will be settled automatically and will disappear from the section „Blocked amount”, being effectively debited from cont. 🙂
Why can I have blocked amounts on my card?
Because you have:
➤⠀attempted a card transaction, which was not completed successfully, but the amount nevertheless remained blocked;
➤⠀different overdue amounts or garnishments, which will be recovered later, when you have available funds in your account;
➤⠀made payments in installments with the credit card, where the amount decreases monthly, as the installments are paid off;
➤⠀made card transactions at other banks' terminals, whether it is an ATM transaction, a payment at the merchant's POS, or on the Internet.
In the case of transactions with an error message, both at merchant POS and on the Internet, the amounts may remain blocked on the account.
In such situations, do not worry, you can request the unblocking of the amount either by calling the Call Center (at the number written on the back of the card), or at any unit of Transilvania Bank, the money will be returned to the account as soon as possible. ⏳
Any amount resulting from card transactions remains blocked on the account for a maximum of 20 days, and then is automatically returned to the account if the transaction settlement is not requested.
The blocked amounts are shown on the account statement in the section „Blocked Sums”. 🔒
For what reasons do "failed transactions" occur?
A failed transaction may occur due to one or more factors, for example:
➤⠀card blocked;
➤⠀card expired;
➤⠀demagnetized card;
➤⠀insufficient funds;
➤⠀different communication errors;
➤⠀trading limit exceeded;
➤⠀incorrect entry of the PIN code;
➤⠀incorrect entry of card data for Internet payments (card number, expiration date, code CVV, 3D Secure password).
Is there a possibility that some transactions are unlocked automatically?
If a transaction was made, which within 20 calendar days was not requested for settlement (by the merchant / another bank from which you withdrew cash), it will be unlocked through an automatic process, and the amount will be returned to the account. 💰
In the situation where you have benefited from the traded product / service, but the amount has not been settled by the merchant within 20 calendar days, even if the transaction is automatically unlocked, the respective merchant / bank has the right to request the transaction settlement afterwards.
In the case of transactions made at gas stations with unattended terminals (where you make the payment yourself) usually a certain standard amount (e.g. 50 Euro) is blocked for you. 💶
At the moment the transaction is settled, only the value of the fuel you refueled will be debited from the account, and the difference will be automatically credited back to your account.
Why do I have an amount blocked on my card even though I paid at the destination (hotel)?
Depending on the terms and conditions of the reservation, the merchant may also request a guarantee hold.
This warranty is unlocked after the actual payment for the services has been made, either at the request of the merchant or automatically after 20 days. 📆
If you notice that the merchant still has not unlocked your amount, even though you have paid for the services, you can contact the BT Call Center (at the number on the back of the card) to initiate a payment refusal.
I have an amount blocked on my card for over two months, even though the transaction I made at the merchant was declined. How do I proceed to unblock it?
A sum cannot be blocked for more than 20 calendar days on the account.
If it is not reimbursed by the merchant within this period, the amount will automatically return to the available balance. 🔐
