If I have sent someone my IBAN code, associated with the Direct Card, can they have access to the money in my account?

No, because for the Direct Card it is only a record account and it cannot be used as a classic IBAN.
Whatever happens, do not share your card details with anyone: the number, expiry date, or CVV, as online fraud methods are becoming increasingly common.
